Living Life Under The Influence of trauma
For years now, I’ve been writing articles—sometimes as a way to heal, sometimes as part of a mission to help others heal.
But this… this is different. This is my first attempt at publishing a book. And truthfully? It’s not a book I want to write. It’s a book I need to write. I’ve always felt like I can’t write all the books I want to write until I first write the one I have to. The one that releases the demons that have haunted my entire life.
This is that book.
This is a book that weaves together memoir and science—a story of making sense of my life through the lens of memory… and the lens of neuroscience. One of the main missions of this book is to teach and grow awareness of the impacts of personal story through personal storytelling.
We’ll explore trauma. But not just in the clinical or dramatic ways we often hear trauma talked about.
I personally define trauma as the experiences in life that either refuse to let go of us… or that we refuse to let go of.
Or both.
It's a definition that require us to be curious about each other's stories before we judge or define them.
I have lived a life under the influence of trauma - under the influence of stories that have refused to let go of me, under the influence of stories I've had a difficult time releasing from my tight grips.
Stories that have shaped my relationships, my view of the world, and maybe more than anything - the view I've carried of myself all these years.
But to be honest, I can't do this project alone. I need your help, both emotionally and financially.
