4/4/2020 0 Comments Do greater works than jesusMy dear friend Lisa Blount Yoder shared this story yesterday about her nursing friends who are headed to the pandemic epicenter in New York. One of the nurses in the story left behind a 9-month old child to serve others - a sacrifice that floors me and gives me goosebumps.
I read in a devotional yesterday by A.J. Russell: "Learn this - no position - just a servant." One thing this pandemic is at least bringing to our attention - and maybe for some, providing an opportunity to learn - positions are fleeting. If our security and joy is found in positions - for many of us, that security and joy is now gone. Russell also said in this devotional: "You will find such joy in speaking to each other of me, and together climbing higher." Together climbing higher..... You know, in John 14:12, Jesus says something powerful, miraculous really when you think about it. And I don't hear it talked about much. But Jesus said: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father." Jesus said WE could do greater works than HE. 😮 During this time, and certainly for years to come as we deal with whatever the aftermath of this time will be, we are going to need each other to do "greater works than these." As believers and non-believers alike - we will need to come together and understand and believe and embrace, no positions, just servants. For my friend Lisa's friends - these beautiful nurses, I pray: The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.
