This weekend is always one of my favorite weekends of the year. The (official) start of the college football season.
By far the most impressive story I saw this weekend, one of the most impressive I've seen in a while, was Colorado going to Texas and upsetting TCU. Colorado has been horrific the last several years; they won one game last season. Meanwhile, TCU played in the college football national championship game last year. After beating TCU, first year Colorado head coach Deion Sanders said his team is about to get dangerous. Dangerous because they now believe. He said most of them had been WANTING to believe, but now they DO believe. Sanders, Coach Prime as he's called, comes off as cocky and bold and arrogant to some. To me, he comes off as believing. Believing in himself. Believing in the people around him. He's also not shy about his endless belief in God. Belief is contagious. Chances are, if you have people in your life who believe the things about yourself that you want to believe but just can't quite get there, you are moving forward. If you don't have those people, chances are you are stuck. Coach prime has a history of going places and getting those places unstuck. Not with arrogance, but with belief. The reality is we all get unstuck, we all get a little dangerous, when we start believing the things about ourselves that we truly want to believe but just can't get there. Coach Prime is a great example of what happens when we bring believers into our lives. He may also be a great challenge to go be a believer in someone else's life. It's Monday. I'm seriously thinking about getting unstuck. Maybe we can all get unstuck. Maybe we can all get a little more dangerous. It's time to start believing the things about ourselves that we want to believe but just can't quite get there. Because trust me, I know we can get there.
